Rahul Asks Congress to Continue Anti-BJP Stir

Bangalore, Aug 14 (PTI):
Endorsing the oust-BJP campaign of his party's Karnataka unit, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday asked partymen to ensure defeat of communal forces through democratic methods in the state.

He praised the state unit leaders for their 320-km 'Bellary Chalo' padayatra against illegal mining and "failures" of the BJP government and their anti-BJP stir.

"You have done a good job", he said during his brief interaction with leaders at the Karnataka PCC office.

Rahul, who arrived here from Gulbarga for his interactive session with the youth, spent about 20 minutes with top state party leaders and asked them to continue their agitation against the saffron party government in a "democratic and Gandhian way", KPCC President R V Deshpande told reporters.

The Congress General Secretary, who has been criss- crossing the country to motivate youths to join politics for ensuring development, pledged his support to the stir launched against the BJP government in the state.

Deshpande said Rahul was briefed about the "rampant corruption" in the state and "betrayal" of promises by the BJP government including its "failure" to construct houses for flood-affected victims.

He was also informed about the "atrocities" committed on women in the state, attacks on churches and details of the padayatra which "converted itself into a peoples' movement."

Rahul also answered some questions posed by partymen at the interaction.

Opposition leader in the state Assembly Siddaramaiah, Working President D K Shivakumar and Youth Congress leader Krishna Byregowda, and former Union Minister and actor Ambareesh were present in the session.

There is no need of Rahul asking, people are already doing it, by their own free will. With all political parties being corrupt, congress under the able leadership of PM, has won back some credibility. It must continue to clean up itself and the administration. This is the need of the hour, and people expect results.

Congress should not take it for granted, the anger against BJP is always in its favor. They need to work hard and prove competence, to
    win it.

    Dear Rahul:

We are with the Congress people for all our life because we know what is Congress and the leaders. Yes BJP must get out of Karnataka and the Congress should form the government. I am fed up of the BJP government and it is high time to have a quick election in Karnataka State for the better development. BJP pomises but never do anything that they should. Our roads are a shame for BJP government. Rahul, we need good roads. Money is granted by the Central in abundance but only 35% is spent on roads. Every rainy season the roads becme swimming pools. Give road contract to companys like LT or give to foreign companys eventhough its expensive: for ten years there will be no road repairs. Be active now and do the work for India and we will continue to pray for you, for protection and long life to rule the Nation of India atleast for 30 years. May the Lord God Almighty bless you and protect you from all dangers and harms.

Rahul Gandhi, silently consolidating cong base with students of universities.Yesterday one of female participent's comments to press is a evidence. She went on telling that our natural resources are robbed by few bigwigs unabated which was a question to Mr Rahul. So I could gather from the press brief that youth of toady concerned about Mines looting and naxalism more than price rice and corruption. Therefore Rahul might be thought of the seriousness of issue in which State cong agitating in the means of PADAYATHRA and due to the success of agitation Rahul advised party workers to continue momentum going until BJP ousted from power in Karanataka.
