Mangalore Konkans Dubai Establishes Cancer Fund at Father Muller

Mangalore, Aug 15 : Mangalore Konkans Dubai, Konkani community organization from Dubai, in continuation of its charitable endeavours back home established a Rs 10 Lac Cancer Fund for the poor and needy cancer patients around the city at Fr Muller Hospital.

The former president of Mangalore Konkans Valerian Peris handed over the cheque in brief programme organized at Father Muller Hospital conference room on Independence day eve. "We have provided free care worth Rs 5 crore in 2009. Needy and poor patients from all walks of life have benefited with no religious boundaries for the treatment provided free of cost. Humanity comes first at Father Muller Hospital" said Fr Patric Rodrigues, director of Father Muller Charitable Institutions.

He appreciated the gesture of Mangalore Konkans Dubai for initiating the fund, and gave the other details of various Cancer Relief Fund and other related funds at Father Muller which have been used for serving the poor people of the region.

James Mendonca, former president of Mangalore Konkans explained the achievement of Mangalore Konkans, and how it has emerged as one of the top Konkani organizations in the entire world through the dedication of its members and charitable work initiated in the last 22 years.

"Our mission of charity will continue, and we will strive to serve poor of poorest," he said.

As a formality, a memorandum was signed between Mangalore Konkans and Father Muller Institution.
 
Fr Denis D'Sa, administrator, Father Muller Medical College, and Fr Richard Coelho administrator, Father Muller Hospital were also present.

A 10-minute impressive documentary on the Father Muller Institution explained the path walked by the hospital and challenges faced in over a century since it came into existence.

Dr Suresh Rao, head of the department, radiology, Dr Jayaprakash Alva, dean, Father Muller Medical College and Dr Sanjeev Rai among others were present.
