Bengaluru: Alleged assault on doctor - Inspector among three transferred

Bengaluru, May 19: Four police personnel including inspector of Sanjay Nagar police station here Katyayini, have been transferred. They have been accused of purposefully assaulting a doctor relating to the allegation of black-marketing of Remdesivir injections.

Deputy commissioner of police (north division), Dharmendra Kumar Meena, giving information, said that the transferred police personnel will have to discharge duties at their respective offices till the investigation into the allegation is completed. He also said that the investigation into the case has been entrusted to J C Nagar assistant commissioner of police, Reena Suvarna.

Recently, Sanjay Nagar police, who had busted a racket of selling Remdesivir injections in the black market, had arrested four including a doctor. The police had also served notice on some private hospitals and questioned a few doctors.

In this case, a doctor, Dr Nagaraj, reportedly was summoned to the police station where he was thrashed and pressurized to pay Rs 5.5 lac by way of bribe. In this background, the deputy commissioner of police has transferred four including inspector Katyayini.
