CM Attacks Congress, JD(S) for Opposing Anti-Cow Slaughter Bill

CM Attacks Congress, JD(S) for Opposing Anti-Cow Slaughter Bill

From Our Special Correspondent
Daijiworld Media Network - Bangalore

Bangalore, Aug 16: Even as Congress leaders from the state flew to Delhi to urge President Pratibha Patil to reject the state Prevention of Cow Slaughter and Cattle Preservation Bill, which was passed in the legislature without any debate, chief minister B S Yeddyurappa lambasted the Congress and JD(S) leaders for their opposition in order to 'appease the minorities.'

The chief minister said it was unfortunate that former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda and other state JD(S) leaders as also state Congress leaders had met the President to oppose the bill and expressed confidence of getting President Pratibha Patil’s approval.

Yeddyurappa pointed out that Mahatma Gandhi wanted a ban on cow slaughter and said seven to eight states have already enacted legislation in that regard. Even the Supreme Court had upheld the ban on cow slaughter, he said, and claimed that minorities were not opposed to imposing the ban.

Criticising Deve Gowda’s recent statement that JD(S) would bring hundreds of old and aged cows, ox and bulls and leave them before his residence and also in front of Keshavakrupa, the RSS headquarters in Bangalore, he said such short-sighted policies aimed at pleasing minorities would not succeed.

''Neither JD(S) nor Congress will be able to hurt the feelings of majority of Hindus,” he said pointing out that all the Swamijis and many of the Hindu and Christian leaders had welcomed the ban on cow slaughter.

Meanwhile, state BJP president K S Eshwarappa, who spoke to reporters during his tour, challenged the Congress and the JD(S) to face the ensuing by-elections to the Gulbarga and Kadur assembly constituencies on September 13 on the issue of cow slaughter ban. ''Let us see whether the people support those opposing cow slaughter or those in favour of cow slaughter," he said.

    Well said..Jude, Mangalore Dubai..

CM & company (BJP) have created enough mess in state with awkward attitudes, by implementing this law, I am sure that they are going to create a communal conflict in the state. If cow is their GOU MATA, let them respect & not kill & eat. It’s only the plan of BJP to gain the vote from HINDUS in the next elections, or else no body is going to vote BJP in the next election for the nasty things they have been doing with the state.
    Cheers !!

This bill has been passed by Yedyurappa government without studying the implications and such hasty decision by the government will create serious problems to the ageing cows and nature.

What a farmer has to do with the ageing cows? Whether government will compensate him to look after these cows? Without proper direction from the government farmers may abandon the cows in streets thus endangering the life of cows as well as people resulting in accidents.

Moreover this is against the nature as creatures including human being feed on each other maintaining balance and this decision may upset the nature’s system and may create havoc in the long run.

Dear Sandy Pinto, why have you left your good old traditional India and living in Australia. If you have so much patriotism for your mother country, live in India and be what you are. Don't eat somebody else's grain of rice and say you are Indian. Many can talk many words, but come and live with your Indian brethern who are in need of even one morsal a day and serve them. Don't live in Australia and talk for India.

A few days back I was driving from Mangalore to Karwar by NH-17. I was surprised to find hundreds of abandoned cattle on this Highway. Bad roads plus abandoned cattle makes driving extremely difficult and dangerous. I pray that this ban does not come into effect because more and more poor farmers will abandon their cattle on highways and put lives of innocent motorists and pedestrians in danger. If at all this ban has to be implemented the government should construct adequate cattle sheds so that poor farmers can abandon their sick and old cattle in these sheds.

Hi Sandy-this research report given by you is conducted on hybreed cows, fed with meat by- products, injected with growth hormones, given beer to drink in your present place of residence, thier food contains grass grown using chmicals(pesticides)etc. Now don't compare them to Indian cows. In India our water is polluted by more than 100 times than permissible limit, milk is laced with pesticides more than 60 times the minimum limit, its the same with fruits & vegitables-reason indiscriminate use of farm pesticides. The fact that is a living miracle is-we breathe, drink eat, indulge in unhealthy diet & habits & still survived all these years-Great adaptability(potential) of our body design & system in this polluted world.
Everything in moderation is good, everything in excess is bad.

    Hey ,
Mr Henry, dont compare India wid foreign countries.India is a Hindu country so give importance to its beliefs then followed by other beliefs christanity and Islam.Even though I am an christian I respect Hinduisum as well ,not to forget that our anscistors were Hindus.
Cow slaughter bill should be passed as its not the only food a man can have ,he can shift to vegetables fruits .Mahatma Gandhi was a vegetarain,Abdul Kalam the genius is a vege,Albert Einstein was a vege too.As according to the science consumption of meat specially beef will cause the human body prone to disceases.
I ll list some of them
Beef contains significant quantities of the most toxic organic chemical known - dioxin. This chemical is toxic in the trillionths of grams. (A trillionth of a gram, called a picogram, is one million millionth of a gram. A gram is about 1/30th of an ounce.) Dioxin has been linked to cancer, endometriosis, Attention Deficit Disorder (hyperactivity in children), reproductive systems defects in children, chronic fatigue syndrome, immune system deficiency, and rare nerve and blood disorders. A single hamburger (a little less than 1/4 lb, or 100 grams) contains up to 100 picograms of dioxin. they say that any dose can cause toxic effects, because dioxin is a hormone disrupting chemical which changes the functioning of body cells.

This is a RSS agenda of BJP, mainly targetting minorities and dalits. Every one has freedom in this country what to eat and what not to eat. If slaughtering of cattle is sin in this country, BJP party men should stop eating chicken, fish and mutton too as this is also amounts to the same sin. Also, they and their wards should stop wearing leather shoes and footwears.

Majority of dalits and minorities they do not afford to eat Chicken and Mutton as they are costlier than beef. Beef is a poor man's affordable non-vegeterian item. As such stopping them to eat their choice of food, affordability, interest, etc., is nothing but infringement in their personal right and beating on their stomaches. The BJP govt. do not have right to do the same. They have to conduct themselves as per wishes of all sections of the society in this country.
