Mangaluru, May 19: The state government announced a Covid financial package for unorganized workers and those engaged in petty trades or operating auto rickshaw, cab, taxi drivers and artistes.
The government has announced Rs 3,000 for auto drivers. The auto rickshaw drivers in the city said that only a few auto drivers got Rs 5,000 which government had announced during the last lockdown.
Auto drivers urged the government to make treatment free for Covid patients at private hospitals which will help poor people instead of giving them Rs 3,000.
“During the last year’s lockdown, only 30% of auto drivers got the money. Despite of applying, we did not receive any money which was announced during last lockdown,” they said.
