Udupi: Seven patients undergoing treatment at Kastruba Hospital for Black Fungus

Udupi, May 19: "Of the seven patients from different districts undergoing treatment at Kastruba Hospital in Manipal for the high rising Black Fungus (Mucormycosis), all are Covid-19 positive," said DHO, Dr Sudhirchandra Sooda on Wednesday May 19.

Out of these, five women and two men are currently receiving treatment for the rare infection.

The patients are from Harihara, Davangere, Chitradurga, Koppala, Ranibennuru, Hubballi and Dharwad with diabetes as well as are covid-19 positive.

Dr Sooda said that one out of the seven patients undergoing treatment at KMC underwent surgery. None of the cases reported are from Udupi district.
