Bengaluru, May 21: Medical supplies worth Rs 7.5 crore were donated by Seoul Semiconductors, a South Korea-based multinational company, under its CSR fund to the state government to support the battle of the state against the COVID pandemic on Friday.
Deputy chief minister and state COVID task force head, Dr C N Ashwatha Narayana, who received the donation on behalf of the government, expressed his gratitude for the gesture shown by the company and said these medical supplies would come in handy.
India and South Korea share similar cultures and have been good trade partners in many sectors. Now, this has been extended to humanitarian service as well, Dr Narayana said.
The medical supplies include medical user masks (KF94), high-end gloves, PPE kits, mobile air purifiers, violeds to sterilize air-borne bacteria, viruses etc to keep ICU wards, ambulances, PCR vans protected and prevent further spread of diseases.
Speaking on the occasion, Arshi Krishnachar, country vice-president of Seoul Semiconductor, said the high-end masks, gloves, air purifiers, and violeds will help to serve the purpose of protecting frontline workers such as doctors, nurses, BBMP workers, paramedical forces, and policemen.
Chung-Hoon Lee, CEO and others participated through a video conference. Ravi Shankar and Dr P N Govinda Rajulu of Hongirana Trust were present.
