Karwar, May 22: Jude Fernandes of the district is well known to everyone in the district because of his unique social work. He goes to every household in need during this difficult time of Covid. Public lauds the service of Jude, who has a special concern for elderly citizens.

Public of Uttara Kannada district is distraught due to the effect of Tauktae cyclone. There is no electricity supply since five days in Karwar. Most of the citizens are spending time in darkness. The plight of elderly people is worst. Pumps are not working at homes, mobiles have gone on switched off mode as they cannot be charged. All household works are pending. Jude Fernandes, who is aware of these issues faced by the public takes generator to the house of elderly citizens and provides them temporary electricity and gets the water tank of the house filled. He also gets their mobile phones charged from the same. Women also start their mixer grinders and grind masala for meals.

Jude, who is 43 now, believes that serving elderly citizens is equal to serving God. He is the president of Human Rights Education Association of North Karnataka. He does all the services free of cost.

Jude is a BCom graduate and has four children. He lost his parents when he was still in college. As he did not get the opportunity to serve his parents, he runs to help elderly citizens where he finds solace like serving his own parents.
