Haveri, May 22: Dr K Sudhakar, health and medical education minister expressed confidence that second wave of coronavirus, which is speeding fast in the state will come under control during the end of June.

Speaking to media in the city, Sudhakar said, “According to experts the intensity of second wave of coronavirus will reduce considerably towards the end of June month. So far the trend is in line with what the experts have predicted. We also believe that the second wave will get reduced during end of June month. Experts say that the chain will break during lock down.

“The number of infections have reduced in the past 12 days. We have taken the decision to treat the Covid infected patients in Covid care centres instead of home isolation in villages. If the infected people are treated in Covid care centers instead of home isolation from day one the number of deaths will reduce and it will also prevent spreading of the infection.”

Speaking to the scribes, district in charge minister Basavaraj Bommai said, “Oxygen generators will be installed in all government hospitals of Haveri taluk within the next three to four months. There will not be any shortage of oxygen. Already unit which produces KL of oxygen has started working. Approval is given for installing oxygen generator at Shiggavi and Hanagal. In addition, the government has also sanctioned oxygen generator at Hirekeroor town.

“Oxygen generators will be installed by Grasim and Rudra companies under CSR funds at Ranebennur and Savnoor respectively. Oxygen beds are installed at Akkialoor Rattihalli, Bommanahalli and Guthala hospitals.”

Bommai also said that there is no medical college at Haveri and there is a shortage of specialist doctors and physicians. Though ventilator is available, there is no technician to operate it. He said that he will discuss these issues along with black fungus with Dr Sudhakar.
