Hassan, May 25: Relating to a prolonged dispute over land between close relatives, four people of a single family were murdered. The incident happened in Maragodanahalli village in Holenarasipur taluk in the district.

Mallesh (56), Manjesh (24), Ravikumar (35) and Papanna (30) were killed in this mayhem.

It is learnt that Swami Gowda and his close ones, Pradeep and Yogesh, had ploughed the land that was the subject of dispute between the families. At around 4 pm on Monday May 24, Mallesh, his son Manjesh, and son-in-law Ravikumar, had planned to plough the same land. Swami Gowda's son, Papanna, brought a knife and stabbed Mallesh, Ravi and Manjesh. During the melee, Papanna's head was smashed against a boulder after which he stabbed people with his knife.

All the four who had collapsed in a pool of blood, were carried to the government hospital at Holenarasipur. Three of them died there. Papanna was taken to Hassan hospital for advanced treatment at the advice of the doctors but he succumbed to his grave injuries there.

The two families were fighting for the right over the said land for the last four decades. The dispute was in the court and the court had adjudged the case in favour of Malleshi brothers. Now, those who fought for the land for many years are no more alive.
