Mangaluru, May 25: Kasturba Medical College (KMC) announced that it reopened vaccine centres and those above 18 years can make use of the facility. Vaccines will be available at four places including KMC hospital, Dr B R Ambedkar Circle, KMC Hospital, Attavar, Marina Sports Complex, Kaprigudda and Attavar. A special vaccine centre is also opened at Kateel Durga Sanjeevini Hospital.

Professor, vice-chancellor Dr Dileep G Nayak of Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Mangaluru campus said that it is the intention of KMC to provide vaccines to as many people as possible in Mangaluru through the vaccine centres. “KMC Hospital special vaccine centre at Marina Sports Complex is spacious and 2,000 people can be vaccinated in it every day. The vaccine centres are opened at various places so that everybody may obtain them,” he said.

Mangaluru KMC Hospital chief executive Sagheer Siddik said that the second wave of coronavirus has reached a disastrous stage. “Getting vaccinated is an important weapon to fight against it. The eligible people can get their names registered through www.cowin.gov.in or Arogyasethu app. I request everybody to come forward and get vaccinated. We need to live freely like before. It will be possible only when it stops spreading. Safety precautions should be maintained besides taking the vaccine. We can fight against the virus by wearing masks, maintaining social distance and getting sanitized from time to time. We will be able to keep us and our loved ones safe and healthy only if we follow the Covid protocol. I thank the doctors and medical staff for creating a safe environment for hospital patients.”
