Bengaluru, May 26: The state high court has directed the state government to provide report of action taken against chief minister, B S Yediyurappa's son, B Y Vijayendra, for violating the Covid rules and performing puja at Nanjangud temple.

When the public interest litigation filed by Let's Kit Foundation came up before the division bench headed by Chief Justice, A S Oka on Tuesday, advocate, G R Mohan, filed a memo to the original petition. He brought to the notice of the bench that Vijayendra along with family had, on May 18, performed Puja at Nanjundeshwara temple at Nanjangud.

The bench noted that there are allegations of violations of government rules for the benefit of an individual. Therefore it asked the government to file report on action taken by June 3.

The bench also expressed anger at the affidavit filed by Belagavi police commissioner in response to another petition in which BJP convention held on January 17 at Belagavi had violated Covid rules. Noting that only a fine has been imposed by the police, it expressed the view that the commissioner appears to be lacking knowledge of law and directed him to file a detailed affidavit before June 3. After directing the government to confirm that first information reports have been filed in respect of every person who participated in the meeting and convention through a compliance report, it posted the case to June 4.
