Mangaluru: Gunny bags roll down when unloading - Lorry driver killed

Mangaluru, May 28: The owner-cum-driver of a truck died after gunny bags came rolling down on him during the unloading operation. The incident happened at Baikampady on Wednesday May 26.

The victim has been identified as Mohammad Mansoor. On May 26, Mansoor and lorry conductor, Cinan Afrid, had brought a load of plastic beads to Brite Packaging Company yard at Baikampady. At about 7 pm, the lorry was parked at the unloading site after which Cinan Afrid climbed over the cabin of the lorry. As Mansoor untied the rope from below, Cinan used to stack the rope on the cabin. At that time, some gunny bags in the rear side of the load slipped and fell on Mansoor. He became very ill. He was immediately carried to a private hospital in the city in the company car. But his life could not be saved.

A report in this connection was filed at Panambur police station.
