Mangaluru, May 28: City mayor Premananda Shetty, and a team of officials, visited the water purification unit of the city corporation at Thumbe and inspected the facility on Wednesday May 26.

For the last some days, there have been complaints from areas like Mangaladevi, Kannur, Jeppinamogaru, Faisal Nagar, Yekkur etc about muddy water being supplied through the taps. The mayor wanted to personally check the problem.

At the water purification unit, KUIFDC has undertaken works under Amrit scheme. Out of four tube settler chambers there, three have been completed, and the fourth is stuck as the tubes have to come from Maharashtra and because of corona issue, the consignment has not been received. The contractors sought a week's time to sort out the issue and supply clean water.

The mayor, who discussed the issue with the contractors, instructed to use the old tubes temporarily if there is delay in receiving new tubes and see that clean water is supplied.

Former mayor Bhaskar K, corporators S Chandravathi, Kishore Kottara, and officials of the city corporation and KUDCEMP were present.
