Beltangady: Three people of same family succumb to Covid within 15 days at Ujire

Beltangady, May 28: A family living in Gandhinagar of Ujire village bore the brunt of the Covid pandemic as it lost three of its member within 15 days.

Furalla (92), father of Srinivas Ujire, former president of Ujire gram panchayat died at a hospital in Mangaluru on May 13 due to Covid. He is survived by six sons and a daughter. Furalla’s daughter Appy (45) succumbed to Covid on May 23 in Mangaluru. Later Guruva (52), husband of Appy died due to Covid on May 27. The couple has a daughter and son.

The family is devastated as it has lost three members to Covid within 15 days. There are more than 50 houses in Gandhinagar area of Ujire village and the death of three persons in the same family has sent shock waves through the whole community. The villagers have demanded that the taluk administration has to immediately take the matter seriously and provide necessary help to the residents. More than 30 Covid positive cases are registered at Gandhinagar, which has also caused concern to the administration.

    Very sad for the family, who lost 3 members within 15 days. When the concerned department has no passion, love to server the people, this will be fate. Even during this time of disaster; vested, selfish people are only interested in earning money.

    In our country the value of life and the subsequent loss whether emotional or economical is only felt by the immediate family members . Rest of the community and the government forgets it within hours. May be partly because we are far too many in numbers and the pressures of life are so many that we don't have time. But government must realize each loss of life is a blow on our econonomy.
