Davanagere: Woman tries to link account with PAN, loses Rs 89,000

Davanagere, May 30: Someone offered help to a woman to link her account with the permanent account number (PAN). She was fleeced of Rs 89,263 once she shared her username and password.

Nanda Nadiger, a resident of Saraswathi Nagar here, lost her money in this way. Someone had sent an app link meant to link the account number with the PAN number to her cellphone number. The sender had asked her to open the app and inform username and password to him. The woman provided these details. Later, a check of her account revealed that she was tricked.

A complaint was filed in this connection in the cybercrime, economic offences and narcotics (CEN) police station.
