Mangaluru, Jun 1: The Youth Congress has been maintaining a war room to help the people to get relief when needed from the second wave of coronavirus pandemic. District youth Congress president, Luqman Bantwal, addressed a press meet in the city on Tuesday June 1.

During the one month period the war room has been functional, it received 1,912 calls. 202 patients were helped to get admitted into hospitals.

This war room was also involved with the discharge of 99 people, arranged for oxygen to 42, and medicines to 153 families. Ambulance services were extended to 204 persons.

In the hospital, blood was arranged for 94 people, plasma was arranged for two, while vaccine administration arrangement was made for 130 people.

Many from the district lost their lives due coronavirus. Funeral for 46 among them was arranged. Food arrangement was made to 13,730 people in distress, Provisions kit was given to 241 families and blood
bank arrangements were made to 148.

Luqman Bantwal also stated that the government has failed in managing Covid situation. He blamed the central government for its faulty administration. Noting that the government has been claiming that vaccines have been arranged for all above 18 years of age, he pointed out that there is a shortage of vaccines. He noted that if a person is ready to pay Rs 850, he is able to get the vaccine. He questioned whether only rich classes of people get better treatment and vaccine. He wanted the ministers and MPs to answer this question. He said that the second corona wave is a disaster created by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the central government because of their mismanagement.
