Mangalore, Aug 23: Mandd Sobhann invites applications for The Global Konkani Music Awards. It is one of the many events organized by Mandd Sobhann to mark its silver jubilee.  

Any Konkani vocal music album, ‘non-devotional’ as well as ‘devotional’, released for sale in 2009 (January to December.), anywhere in the world, in any dialect of Konkani, by anyone belonging to any religious and communal denomination – is eligible for consideration.

The organization has instituted six awards this year namely, Best Konkani Singer, Female – 2009, Best Konkani Singer, Male – 2009, Best Konkani Lyricist - 2009, Best Konkani Music Composer – 2009, Best Konkani Music Arranger - 2009 and Best Konkani Music Album - 2009. The awards will comprise a title, Rs 25,000 each and public honour at the grand awards ceremony at kalaangann on December 12.

The winners will be selected strictly on the basis of applications or nominations received. A panel of very eminent musicians, chosen from different parts of India, will select the winners.
