Home Minister Does a Volte-face on Madani

Bangalore, Aug 25, (DHNS): Home Minister V S Acharya had to eat his own words on the alleged involvement of People’s Democratic Party leader Abdul Nasser Madani in the bomb blasts near the Chinnaswamy Stadium in April this year, after investigators refused to corroborate his statement.

On Tuesday afternoon, Acharya claimed that interrogation has revealed Madani’s role in the blasts near the stadium, ahead of an Indian Premier League match in April. However, speaking to Deccan Herald later in the evening, he said the media had misquoted him.

Sources involved in the investigation of the case refused to corroborate Acharya’s earlier claim made at a press conference here. In fact, sources said that a so-called confession by the accused before the police will have to be independently corroborated by other evidence for it to be admissible in a court of law.

There are indications of Madani’s involvement in the blasts outside Chinnaswamy stadium. Investigations are on and a clearer picture will emerge in the days to come, Acharya said, a claim that was challenged as “baseless” by Madani’s counsel in Thiruvananthapuram.

Counsel Ali Akbar said Acharya’s statement was baseless and the minister “is trying to make political capital through such statements”. Akbar said Acharya’s statement was “devoid of facts because so far Madani has been questioned only for a few hours. No detailed questioning has taken place.”

Fifteen people were injured in two low-intensity blasts near the cricket stadium before the match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians here on April 17. At that time, the Home Minister had declared in the Legislative Assembly that the blasts were carried out by the betting mafia.

One of the explosions took place at Anil Kumble Circle, meters away from the stadium, while the second blast was reported from a generator room near Gate 12 of the stadium. While the match was held after an hour-long delay, the two IPL semi-final matches scheduled to be held in Bangalore were shifted to Mumbai for security reasons.

Acharya said the police is likely to seek extension of Madani’s custody for further interrogation. Madani has been fasting during the ongoing Ramzan and the police had to conduct interrogation between his prayer sessions, Acharya said. The PDP chief accused was arrested by a state police team in Kerala on August 17 and has been remanded in police custody by a Bangalore magistrate till August 26.

Acharya said Madani’s links with 17 other accused in the 2008 blast case was been established during interrogation. As many as nine bomb explosions were set off in Bangalore on July 25, 2008 in which one person was killed and 20 injured. The blasts were caused by low-intensity crude bombs triggered by timers.

Madani has been charge-sheeted as accused number 31 in the serial blasts case registered at the Madivala police station. The PDP leader’s name cropped up during questioning of his former pupil and prime accused T Naseer.

Acharya said he had no information relating to Madani’s reported links with some state politicians, adding however that the police were free to take up investigation and the state government would not interfere at any point of time.

Tough task

The police have a daunting task in proving Madani's role in the 2008 Bangalore serial blasts case. “We have crossed the first hurdle by arresting Madani. Now, the onus is on us to prove it,” said a police officer.

Police sources said investigating officers have collected crucial evidence in proving Madani's role in the blast.  Three months before the blast, Nasir, Riyaz Bhatkal and a few others had met Madani and his wife in Suntikoppa, sources said. “We are sure that Madani's wife introduced Riyaz and others to her husband. But there is no clear evidence. But with regard to Madani, we have done a thorough investigation and efforts are on to nail him,” said the source.

‘Moudany, not Madani’

“I am ‘Moudany’ and not Madani. Get my name right,” Madani told police and pointed that the Tamil Nadu court had given him a clean chit.

At the government hospital he was seen advising the doctors attending to him with regard to the medication he is taking for his health problems.

The way people react it looks like Madani is hanged by the government. Its just an judicial enquiry, lets wait & watch, let the proceedings be over. There is always chance that if Madani is not involved he will be free, its too early to jump into conclusions.More over Madani is not an ordinary innocent citizen,he was proved to be involved in his misdoings before, hence he is always a suspect.
Any body who is proved to be involved or supporting the terrorism must be punished, & that too in such a way that others must think twice before even imagining it.India should initiate this by hanging Afzal and Kasab without any further delay.

Terrorism is a device created by the vested interest to defame Muslims in the world, having failed to defeat them ideologically. To this purpose they first created Bin Laden & attacked Afghanistan &then Iraq....now their target is India. No indian Muslims believe in Terrorism...It is only the wishful thinking of Sangh Parivar. Their policy is to provoke & catch.Right from Godhra to Bangalore blast all to be thorughly investigated....A fair trial to be made .Then the culprit to be given death penalty...No tears will be shed if Madani is hanged in public in Hampankatta circle,if he is really involved.

Acharya, has made a fool of himself with the contradictions emerging from his own department.

Well, as always he is a politician first, trying to score political points. There are many who like to be terrorised, with someone insignficant. Bush terrorised entire world on Iraq's nuclear bomb, bfore going to war. Politicians have learnt how scaring people works for them politically.

If HM is sincere, he should treat all criminals, underworld goons with same yard stick.

Here are some who support hindu fundamentalists and some support islamic fundamentalists. Terrorists dont belong to any one particular community and they are in all communities. They just follow perverted ideologies and terrorise people from other communities. All terror actrivities need to be condemned and all terrorists must be tried under one single anti terror law and there should not be bias and different yard sticks in dealing with terrorists. Govt must be fair and just in administering justice to its citizens without fear or favour. An unjust govt shall breed more terrorists and shall lead the society to chaos and division. BJP in karnataka is more active in state sponsored terrorism, which is a bad signal for peace loving people of our state.

Dr. Kiran Acharya.. I am not supporter of any trouble maker, Goonda and terrorist. But Before commenting something think, So many minorities are put behind in the jail in india wihout any charge and for years Court police will eat their money for crime which they have not committed. On other side if madani has committed crime then he should be punished by law but most of the times police, politicians harrased, torture the victim to confess the crime which they have not committed. Many times FIR, report will be fabricated to involve the innocent minorites. It is the country like india only we minorities are facing such problems. So many riots took place in mangalore, which was directly associated to BJP, RSS , VHP and Bajrangdal were they punished? Still they are committing it still there is no response from our govt. If people die in bomb Blast remember people also die in communal riots too. So the crime is equal everywhere. Muthalik is a goonda All people are condemning him, but acharya is quite in this matter and we will also remain quite. We all know the current govt is in favor of muthalik, remember if we keep supporting such people they will not hesitate to commit bigger crime too which may cost many people lives too. and on that day please dont regret.

Mr Rajesh , I share the same concern as you brother. But this is the tragedy of India and , if same trend continue in India our children or our grand children will find difficult time in our own India.
You can see that trend only in Muslim community around the world. And don’t think supporter to terrorism not uneducated but intellectuals and educated people, this is again worst to this world in coming days.

You can notice how many comment against the person in Hindu community does a wrong thing from his own community .But in other you will not find the same, there is always some kind of sympathy towards that person thinking that some kind of the sabotage is taking place. This kind of behavior force us to think again about ourselves who think of brotherhood and Secularism in India

If people act as they write that “Mother India is first then the religion to me” India will be the safest Country and prosperous country in World.

No need to bother about our great home ministers statement. He is a jooker for the government and the people of Karnataka. To confirm this statement please refer what he said in the recent past.

1.Padmapriya s murder in Delhi.... On the second day he openly said it was the clear picture of suicide as if it happend in front of him.

2.Beggers dying because of old age symptoms so 27 beggers died in a gap of 7 days in beggers colony.

and now Madani planted bomb in CHinnaswami stadium and he was watching.

Mr.V.S>Acharya is good for nothing. He is not at all a good doctor, he is not at all a good administrator and apart from all he is not at all a good person.

It is curse on us so we are having our home minister as V.S.Acharya.

Madani is a known terroist and has spent 10 years in jail for Coimbatore bomb blasts. He has always involved himself in anti national activites in Kerala. It is Very surprising to read comments by narrow minded muslims supporting him and his activities, therby justifying our commone belief that islam and terrorism are brothers in arm. A BOMB is a secualr evil device, which kills everyone who are in the vicinity of the blasts. Hence supporting such anti national criminals based on religious belief is nothing but an act of subversion aganist your own country and mother land.

Now about Mr.Mutalik, he has not killed anyone like Madani.
