although the us govt Border security bill would enhance the vigilancy of us-mexico border but the hike in H1B visa is not the only way out.This would severely effect the booming industry particularly of INDIAN origin like TCS,INFOSYS,WIPRO as it would result in the revenue loss of around $2oo million.
The govt colud increase the tax rate of companies making huge profit,more govt jobs should be
created.

Sangeeta's and Methew's comments are very well received. I strongly recommend that those Indians who find US visa fees are excessive need not come to USA. We have unemployment and our children with the most expensive education have become unemployed. Indians, who get cheap education in India come to USA and steal jobs from Americans, and now complain about our visa fees. Only those who wish to add to the American values and become part of USA need only come to USA. Rest of them find a way elsewhere. This applies to the Indian politician’s children as well, who complain about US visa fees.

What about the indian counslate fee hike after may 31.2010...10 yrs visa from $95.00 to 5 yrs visa $433.00... no more 10 years... and the POI $720.00 for 15 yrs... ????

Mr. Walter has explained everything
with relation to the visa fee
increase.

People around the world have no
idea about the financial crisis
of the U.S. Once the mighty economic
power is now acting like an old
man with arthritis. cancer,
high blood pressure etc, and there
is no cure in sight.

Federal government to state
governments, cities to counties
etc are in deeper financial trouble
and the measures taken to float
in the rough sea is not stablizing
the ship, but the ship is moving
farther to the middle of the
sea without fuel and with broken
rudder.

Now, many people are trying to
return to their homeland to survive, as they have ventured
to reach the the U.S. years back
for economic security, for themselves and their children.
This is a very sad and hopeless
predicament.

The increase in visa fees for H1B and L visas neither discriminatory nor protectionist measures. Such increases are required to support US boarder controls and immigration inspections. Traditionally USA kept such visa fees very law now with looming unemployment, no economic recovery in sight, and crippling housing crises has created absolute requirements to increase visa fees. Indians coming to USA under those visas enjoyed unparallel financial success at the expense of educated American Citizens and permanent residents who become unemployed.

For example, our graduating children are becoming unemployed, while Indians are entering USA and essentially stealing jobs from US Citizens. What if Americans come to India and steal Indian's jobs, how India would feel and what measures India would take? For India, it is time to think that US must survive and must be strong, then only India can provide software supports to US. If US economic conditions worsen, then India would feel significant unemployment. US should impose additional fees on foreign labor and contract work so that US can begin to cut the looming deficit. India should stop complaining. Indian economy is enjoying a gracious success at the expense of US unemployment.
