Mangalore: MU Vice Chancellor Hails Hosur for His Exalted Qualities

Mangalore, Aug 27: Dr Shivashankara Murthy, vice chancellor of Mangalore University, analyzed that Gopal Hosur, inspector general of police (IGP) of western range, who has been transferred to Bangalore after his illustrious stint here, could earn the goodwill of the people because of his duty consciousness, efficiency, simplicity, gentlemanly behaviour and humanitarian qualities. He hailed Hosur for earning the appreciation and trust of the people of the coast, by ably coping with the challenges he faced upon taking over as the IGP here at a critical juncture.

He was speaking after presiding over a farewell function organized to Gopal Hosur, under the leadership of Karavali group of colleges, on behalf of all religions, all political parties and the citizens on Thursday August 26.

Founder president of Karavali group, Ganesh Rao, who was instrumental in organizing the function, appreciated the IGP for his noble qualities and able leadership. In his introductory address, he acknowledged the fact that the outgoing IGP had earned the love and wide respect from all sections of the society within a short stint of 18 months. He felt that this has come to Hosur justifiably, taking into account the efficiency and simplicity with which he functioned here.


Gopal Hosur couple was felicitated by offering garlands and presenting fruits and flowers representing affection and respect of the people, besides a memento.

Speaking on the occasion, Hosur said that the policemen succeed and automatically earn the love and respect of the local people, when they function in a neutral manner, without siding with any one group.  He said his heart was filled with gratitude for the people of the city for the love and affection showered on him.

MLA, U T Khader, Father Muller Medical College administrative officer, Fr Richard Aloysius Coelho, DK and Udupi district Muslim Central Committee president, K S M Masood, and Karnataka Fisheries Development Corporation president, Ramachandar Bykampady, also heaped lavish praises on Hosur.

Representatives of nearly 60 organizations felicitated Hosur. K V Raman presented the programme.

Karnataka Yakshagana Academy president, Kumble Sundar Rao, zilla panchayat president, Santosh Kumar Bhandary, city deputy mayor, Rajendra Kumar, BJP former district president, K Monappa Bhandary, and several other dignitaries were present.

    India needs many more Hosurs" and less political intertfearence in the lives of these great people. Police and citizenry can work cohesively for the goodness of people.

    Mr. Gopal Hosur, inspector general of police(WR) rightly said that the police-officials and constabulary ranks succeed and automatically earn the love and respect of the local people, when they function in a neutral manner, without siding with any one group.
