Kalkura Pratishtana to Mark Ashtami with National-level Kids' Fest

Mangalore, Aug 28: Like every year, Kalkura Pratishtana, an organization promoting Indian culture will hold Sri Krishna Vesha Spardhe – a national-level children’s festival at Sri Manjunatha Temple, Kadri to mark Sri Krishna Janmashtami on Wednesday September 1.

Speaking to presspersons here on Saturday August 28, Kalkura Pratishtana president Pradeep Kumar Kalkura said that the national-level competition has been organized with an intention to develop religious and cultural awareness and to encourage the hidden talent among little kids.

This year, the two-decade-old festival will comprise 14 categories which includes Kanda Krishna for
the tinytots below one year, Muddu Krishna for toddlers above one year and below two years, Tunta Krishna for toddlers of two to three years, Balakrishna for the kindergarten and LKG kids, Kishora Krishna for the UKG and kids of std I, Sri Krishna for std II, III and IV, Geetha Krishna and Yaksha Krishna for students up to std VII.

These apart, in the category Radha Krishna all students up to std VII can participate while women (age no bar) can participate in the category Yashoda Krishna, with category Shankhanada slated to be held in two categories, one that is open to students up to std VII and the other which is open to all.

In order to create interest in Indian culture among children, the pratishtana will also hold Sri Krishna quiz competition for students up to std VII.

The category introduced in the current year is that of Devaki Krishna, wherein the mother of a child participating as Krishna can don the role of Devaki.

'Guru Dakshina', Yakshagana episode by Bala Yaksha Koota will be the highlight of the event and will be held to mark the end of the cultural competition.

Sri Veera Maruti Vyayama Shale Trust to Hold Janmashtami Celebration

Meanwhile, Sri Veera Maruti Vyayama Shale Trust is also holding Krishna Janmashtami celebration
at Bhatnagar, Tokkattu here on September 1 and 2.

Home minister Dr V S Acharya will inaugurate the programme, while Dharmastala dharmadhikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade will bless the occasion. District in-charge minister Krishna J Palemar among others will attend the programme.

Various competitions like kabaddi and tug-of-war will be held to mark the celebration. The pots will be broken at an event to be organized at the Ambedkar Maidan here.
