Mangalore, Sep 3: The 41st mosaru kudike celebration on Thursday September 2 as part of Srikrishna Janmashtami celebrations at Kadri was indeed a right mix of cultural and religious celebrations as well as mass entertainment symbolizing harmony and unity among various religions.

The major highlight of the mosaru kudike celebrations in Kadri was Geetha Melodies Star Nite Organized by Kadri Cricketers at Kadri Ground here from 7.00 pm onwards. The show was a great entertainer from the beginning till the end with no rains playing spoilsport.









The nite that began with orchestra by local groups and dance by the boys and girls of the team such as Ocean Kids was a thorough entertainer with innovative moves and great talent. As the audience soaked themselves in the world of music and dance, Darshan, popularly known as Challenging Star descended on to the venue at 8.00 pm with crowd frenzy reaching a crescendo. While, the organizers gave him a traditional welcome by playing Kombu, the crowd welcomed the actor and other guests with loud cheer and applause. Star was also dedicated the song, Aitalakadi as gesture of warm welcome.

At the stage function, the other guests of the evening on behalf of the Kadri Cricketers specially honoured the trio and patrons of the show, Ronald Colaco, chairman, International Federation of Karnataka Christians' Association, Devanand Shetty of Dix Shipping Company and Prakash Shetty, chairman, MRG Group.

Speaking on the occasion, Colaco said that Krishna means one who attracts and the show as part of janmashtami celebrations has been able to bring together people of various religions at a venue. Stating that Krishna stands for good governance, he brought out the similarities between the culture and values of Jesus Christ and Lord Krishna. "Though Krishna preached that virtuous should be protected and one full of vices should be destroyed, it is the other way round in the present scenario," he regretted and went on to appreciate Kadri Cricketers for organizing such a show and also building a group that brings together youth of various religions.

Darshan, the star attraction of the evening was felicitated by all the guests and members of Kadri Cricketers amid huge cheering by his fans.

Overwhelmed by the honour, Darshan said that it was for the first time in his life that he was honoured with such a warmth and expressed happiness to be present at the show. He reiterated that he was humbled by huge support of his Mangalore fans which ensured grand opening and great success rate of his movies. "Whatever I am today I owe it to my fans," he said and urged all the people to watch and encourage Kannada movies.




















On being insisted to sing and dance, he refused to oblige stating that those were two things he dreaded the most and with humour intact said that instead he will punch a few if they were ready to be on stage. On insistence of his fans, he finally won over crowds with the famous dialogue from film Majestic.

Notable during the show was the craze for Darshan in this part of the region, which surprisingly is overwhelming. His huge fans, especially youth saw that the venue was jam-packed. Seated among the audience for a while, he amazed the fans with his easy manners. He was brought on to the stage after moving amid the crowd waving and acknowledging all, giving his fans time to have a closer look at him.

Apart from giving away mementos to every guests, the organizers also felicitated Manikanth Kadri, local lad and a promising young music director of Prithvi and Savari and Karthik, young playback singer of repute with hits like Ale ale from Savari and Behka and Behenedo from Ghajini and Raaavan. They were also conferred best music director and best singer award by the organization, which was announced to be a regular annual feature of the show here onwards.

Later, the duo performed for the crowd. While, Karthik with his songs, Ale Ale and Patra Bareyala was successful in making audience sway on his sings that were so fluid and full of feel, Manikanth sang medley of few of his compositions such as Jayave Ninadu and Hejjegondu Hejje that were entertainment-packed. While Karthik was overwhelmed to be in Mangalore, his first trip to the region, Manikanth was happy to be back home and expressed his happiness conversing in Tulu.

District in-charge minister Krishna J Palemar, Upendra Prabhu, general manager, Karnataka bank, A Sadanand Shetty, chairman, Shreedevi Education Trust, Walter Nandalike, editor-in-chief, Daijiworld.com, Manjunath Bhandary, chairman, Bhandary Foundation, Srikar Prabhu, president, BJP, Suresh Ballal, former president, Mangalore Urban Development Authority, Suresh Kumar, actor and Rathnakar Jain of Jain Travels were the other guests, who graced the show.

Further, adding the much-needed chirpiness to the show was VJ Anushree of Zee Kannada fame as an anchor. She pepped up the show with her lively interactions with the audience and also stars of the evening.

RJ Vishwas also compered the show with his inimitable lively manner. With over one lac of moving crowd, the show lived up to its reputation.

Traditional Celebration As part of Srikrishna Leelotsav, the 41st year of mosaru kudike like
every year, the traditional procession began from Kadri temple and reached Gopalkrishna Temple at Kadri Kambala from where after traditional rituals, the procession passed through Kambala, Kadri Ground and Kadri Mallikatte to culminate again at Kadri Temple. The pots were hung on the height of over 15 feet poles all decorated and were broken by the Gopalas, the local youth and youth of various organizations.

This apart, mosaru kudike was celebrated at many centres in the city by youth belonging to different clubs and organizations. While Attavar celebrated 101st Sri Krishna Janmashtami celebrations, it was on a grand scale at Urva Stores among the notable.
