Dubai: Fr Fransquinho Gomes New Assistant Parish Priest of St Mary's Church

Dubai, Sep 5: The members of ‘Jesus Mary Joseph’ (JMJ), a well-known Konkani prayer group of St Mary’s Church here were delighted to welcome their new spiritual director and assistant parish priest Fr Fransquino Gomes.
In a welcome ceremony organized in the evening of Friday September 3 during the regular gathering at main hall, the Core Committee of JMJ led Fr Frank Gomes to the stage, the whole assembly rendered standing ovation to show their warm welcome.
The JMJ main co-ordinator Oswald Fernandes expressed his great pleasure to acknowledge Fr Frank as the new spiritual director of JMJ and briefly introduced fr Gomes. Oswald also assured JMJ’s full support and compliance to their new spiritual director and urged to provide spiritual guidance and assistance from here on.
As a welcome gesture, JMJ core member Jerina Lewis presented flower bouquet to Fr Gomes.
In his maiden speech Fr Fransquinho expressed his happiness to assist the Konkani congregation and requested their support in future.
About Fr Gomes
Fr Fransquinho Gomes lovingly referred as Fr Frank Gomes hails from St Stephen's Parish, Goa and was born on July 19 1978. His parents are Alcantra and Maria
Gomes.
Among their four children, second son Fransquinho chose to follow in the footsteps of Jesus and joined Capuchin order in Sept 2001. Fr Frank completed his seminarian education in Farangipet of Karnataka province.
He was ordained as a priest at St Stephen’s Parish On May 19 2009, Goa. Fr Frank’s first assignment was to serve as an assistant parish priest in St Jerome Church, Mapusa, Goa for five months. In November 2009, Fr Frank moved on to Padre Pio Minor Seminary,
Novelim, Goa as vicar of Formation House.
The assisgnmant to St Mary’s Church, Dubai as an assistant parish priest is his present. Young and energetic priest Fr Frank is multi-talented, interested in singing and instrumental music such as playing guitar.
Konkani Parishioners of Dubai also wish him success in his present significant assignment in Dubai which is considered as one of the largest parishes in the world. JMJ also trusts Fr Frank’s ideal acquaintance and perfect direction will facilitate in building up harmonious Konkani
Community.
