Mangalore, Sep 6: The artistes of city-based Asal Kalakar Manglur, promoted by talented dramatist Nellu Permannur, presented ‘Bostu’, a popular Konkani social play as the 105th monthly theatre at Louisa and Francis Fernandes Cascia stage, Kalaangann, Shaktinagar here on Sunday September 5.

The play highlighted the evils of alcohol addiction, need for peaceful co-existence among different communities in society, and the stigma attached to children born out of wedlock as well as the dignity of
human life.

In the play, Bostu is the son born of wedlock who grows up in a poverty-stricken neighbourhood among families from different communities. He is abused by the people in his neighbourhood for being an illegitimate child, and goes missing. The people of the neighbourhood try to find him and one of them inserts a missing persons notice in a local daily. They eventually succeed in tracing Bostu in Bhatkal, Uttar Karnataka, and the people of the entire locality celebrate.

Vanil Bangalore has composed the music for the songs while Nirmal Udupi was the music director.

Stage artistes Felix Lasrado, Alwyn C Veigas, Abraham Pashan, Shawn Rodrigues, and Jagatal Salian enacted various roles.
