Mangalore: CREDAI Organized Workshop Focuses on TDR

Mangalore Sep 7: The Confederation of Real Estate Developers' Association of India (CREDAI) organized a workshop at Ocean Pearl here on Monday September 7.

Inaugurating the programme, district in-charge minister Krishna J Palemar said that already people in the past have disobeyed law and have undertaken illegal construction whereby city has been devoid of
proper parking areas. Further, it has rendered widening of roads too impossible, he said.

Minister said that the new Transferable Development Right (TDR) will not be accepted by anyone now. Even if we break some walls to make parking space it won't be sufficient for big vehicles. So separate land
for parking shall be given with 30-feet-road to be left for road-widening. The rest of the land can be used by the building owners as per the new Comprehensive Development Plan (CDP), he added. He also said that planting of trees is compulsory in the latest plan.

Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) mayor Rajani Dugganna said that many people have given their land in Car Street for the road widening and one and a half percent TDR has been paid which has to be raised to three percent so the people will be willing to give the land without any problem.

Deputy commissioner V Ponnuraj gave a paper presentation on Introduction and analysis of various options of DR and TDR. Architect and MCC consultant Dharmaraj took a session on Terms and conditions and process.

Mangalore south MLA N MLA Yogish Bhat and Mangalore Urban Development Authority chairman Madhav Bhandary among others were present.
