Mangaluru, Jul 5: Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner, Dr Rajendra K V, who also heads the district regional transport authority, be convening a meeting of the district regional transport authority during this week. In all likelihood, the meeting will take a decision on revising bus fare.

When only 50 percent of passenger capacity was allowed to be carried by buses a few days back, the private bus fare had been temporarily hiked. Now the buses are permitted with 100 percent passenger capacity. Therefore, the people have demanded to revert to previous rates.

Taking into account this complex issue, the deputy commissioner has called bus owners association representatives for a meeting with him on Monday July 5. After holding discussions with them, and after convening a meeting of the regional transport authority during this week, a final decision is likely to be taken to the proposed bus fare hike. The deputy commissioner confirmed that discussions will be held on Monday with bus owners association about the proposed fare hike.

The government night buses have been introduced during nights to all the destinations except Kodagu district. But KSRTC has not been permitted to run buses on Mandya route. Kodagu district administration has denied permission to run uses through that district.

"Mangaluru: RTA meeting this week - Bus fare upward revision likely"...........It is not likely....it will be for sure. When the fuel price is increased and passenger load is decreased. how they can survive. They are not there for doing charity. they have to maintain vehicles, pay the driver, conductor, cleaner and also they have to get their profit.

I fully support bus fare upwards revision. But my request is NO STANDING PASSENGERS , 2nd, NO HONKING HORNS 3rd, NO OVER SPEED IN THE CITY LIMIT. 4th every bus operator must follow the Covid19 guideline. If they're agree for those points, I fully justify their demand because for every essential items the rates have gone up. They too survive.

Surely bus fare need to increase. Bus owners are business persons, not social service people.
