Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (HB/EP)

Udupi, July 5: "Karnataka is known to be industrially advanced in comparison to other states of the country. Investors are keen on setting up new industries in the state. 250 acres of land near Muloor in Kaup taluk and 800 acres of land at Balkunje near Mulki will be acquired for the purpose,” said the minister for large and medium scale industries, Jagadish Shettar. He was speaking to reporters after visiting the newly constructed oxygen production unit at Belapu industrial area here on Monday, July 5.

“We have brought changes to the Industrial Policy. There will be a single-window system. All the departments will be brought under one policy. Allotment letter and commencement certificates will be issued early,” he said.

“We intend to aim at industrial progress in other districts besides Bengaluru. The establishment of large scale industries has been sanctioned in other districts for the last two years. Investors have also come forward to establish industries at Mangaluru, Yadgir, Koppala, Belagavi, Hubballi, Dharwad among other places.”

“In the agreement, it has been mentioned that the local people should be employed. Legal action will be taken if the locals are refused employment,” the minister said.

“Oxygen for Udupi was being supplied earlier from Mangaluru. Now, it is being supplied from the oxygen production unit at Udupi, which eliminated the scarcity of oxygen,” he said.

Kaup MLA Lalaji R Mendon, Udupi MLA K Raghupathi Bhat, BJP district president, Kuilady Suresh Nayak, state executive member, Gurme Suresh Shetty, S N Cryogenics Pvt Ltd MD, K Nataraj Hegde and others were present.

Erstwhile DK people are intelligent but not smart. Our land is very fertile in a beautiful setting of the Arabian sea and the western ghats. But our youngsters dont want to toil but clever enough to get work done by others. Nobody wants to till the land. When you dont till the soil the govt takes the opportunity to acquire your land. Then its given to industrialist at low price. Jobs for locals will never happen. Local party supporters want to appease their masters.
