CISF detain man for unauthorised entry into old Mangaluru airport

Mangaluru, Jul 6: A man from West Bengal was detained by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) for entering the Mangaluru old airport on the night of Monday, July 5.

The detainee has been identified as Rakesh a native of West Bengal employed as a lorry cleaner in the city. On the night of July 5 when the CISF was patrolling, they found Rakesh at the old airport where the runway construction work is in progress.

It is said that a lorry driver dropped Rakesh midway without paying him a salary, following which the latter allegedly entered the airport.

CISF, who found Rakesh in the airport handed him over to the Bajpe police. A case has been filed under the Suppression of Unlawful Acts against Safety of Civil Aviation Act, 1982.

"On July 5 at 10.40 pm, a man tried to climb the perimeter wall of the airport. The intruder was caught by the CISF and was handed over to the local police," said an MIA spokesperson.
