July 8: Dakshina Kannada reports 210 new cases, Udupi 147; ten deaths in twin districts

Mangaluru/Udupi, July 8: Dakshina Kannada on Thursday, July 8 reported 210 new coronavirus cases and eight deaths, while Udupi reported 147 fresh cases and two deaths.

As per the district health bulletin, a total of 11,07,627 samples have been tested so far.

The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 94,802 out of which 2,580 are currently active. The positivity rate of district is 2.59%.

As many as 412 patients were discharged from hospitals on Thursday.

The district recorded eight deaths due to coronavirus on Thursday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1290.

With cases steadily increasing, the district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 96,76,767 as fine in 79,300 incidents of mask violation.

Udupi

As per the district health bulletin, as many as 7,02,869 samples have been tested so far.

As many as 147 new cases were reported on Thursday, taking the total number of cases to 67,271 out of which 891 are currently active.

A total of 157 patients were discharged from hospitals on Thursday.

Coronavirus has claimed 400 lives in the district so far, including two on Thursday.

Till now, 4,37,313 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 1,37,657 have received the second dose.
