Bangalore, Sep 9: In an affidavit filed in the state High Court on Wednesday September 8, state minister for medical education, Ramachandra Gowda, insisted that no irregularities had occurred in making appointments of non-teaching staff to Hassan and Mysore medical colleges. He asserted that the appointment process had been done as per law.

A High Court bench, which is hearing a batch of writ petitions filed by the non-teaching staff of the above two colleges, challenging termination of their services within months of appointing them, had instructed the medical education minister to file an affidavit relating to the controversy before Thursday.

Through the affidavit, Gowda claimed that he had no role whatsoever to play in the cancellation of the said appointments and that he had not given his consent for this move. He also clarified that the issue had never come up for discussion before the cabinet meeting.
