Mangaluru, Jul 14: Zika virus and delta plus cases are being reported from Kerala. Therefore, checking has been tightened at the borders of Dakshina Kannada, which is located adjacent to Kerala. Check posts have been set up at the border roads and everyone entering Dakshina Kannada is being subjected to scrutiny.
The home minister had earlier directed to beef up security at the borders the state shares with Maharashtra and Kerala, as these two states have been witnessing unbridled increase in Covid cases.
As of now, the second wave of covid19 is under control in Dakshina Kannada district. However, Kerala has been witnessing a spree of new cases. At the same time, Zika virus and Delta plus cases are also showing an increasing trend. Steps are being taken to stop the spread of these viruses. Therefore, check posts have been set up at Talapady, Nettilapadavu, Narya Cross, Nandara Padpu, Mudungaru Katte and Taudugoli which fall within the city commissionerate limits. Additional staff have been posted there.
Check posts have been installed at ten placed along the district border within the limits of the district police. Check posts have started functioning at Saradka, Salethur and Kanyana within Vittal police station limits, Menala, Swarga and Sulliapadavu within Puttur rural station limits, and Muroor, Mandekolu, Baddadka and Kannadithodu within Sullia station limits. People are being checked, and those having Covid negative report or certificate of vaccination alone are allowed to enter the district.
