Mangaluru/Udupi, Jul 15: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials delivered a big sock to a number of officials on Thursday July 15 morning, as about 300 officials conducted early morning raids at 40 places simultaneously. The raids were conducted on the residences of various officials at Bengaluru, Mangaluru, Udupi, Malur, Bidar, Mandya, Vijayapuira and Ballari. Houses of nine officials spread over seven districts were raided. The spots raided included houses, offices and residences of relatives of the officials.

ACB officials raided the house of G Sridhar, executive engineer of district city development unit, situated in the complex of DC’s office here in the city on the early morning of Thursday, July 15. The sleuths who raided the residence and office of G Sridhar have confiscated vital documents. Senior ACB officials have informed that intense inquiry of Sridhar is in progress.

A team of officials led by deputy superintendent of police raided the residence of Krishna S Hebsur, executive engineer of Karnataka Rural Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (KRIDCL) at Doddanagude. The team has been scrutinizing the documents which it found during the raid.

It is learnt that the officials have accessed some incriminating documents about amassing of illegal wealth.

The officials who were targeted in these raids are R B Kulkarni, chief engineer, KRIDCL Bengaluru, G Sridhar, executive engineer, Mangaluru, Krishna S Hebsur, KRIDCL Udupi, H R Krishnappa, assistant director, Urban Planning, Malur, Suresh Mohare, junior engineer, rural development, Bidar, Venkatesh, TDCF, social forest department, Mandya, Siddarama Mallikarjun, assistant executive engineer, Bescom, Vijayapura, Krishnamurthy, senior motor vehicles inspector, Bengaluru and Vijay Kumar, electrical inspector, Ballari.

    There must be a separate independent team of 1000 ACB people, one team to raid daily and other ones to scrutinize the documents daily. Only then the corruption can be reduced.

    This is a repeat pattern. Always the govt employees taking bribes. best remedy is to make the punishment severe so that they are deterred. just fines will not do. Lock the up at least for 10 years.

These guys are just sitting and enjoying on the hard earned money of the public.. So are all politicians and other regulatory bodies...

    Single site reequirements under urban development authorities is a main source for bribe. Government should streamline this process under revenue department. Another source of corruption is of surveyers. If you do not pay them bribe, they purposely mark less area under your account. If you notice later, they ask you to claim through district survey authorities. If you do not have money to bribe, you keep quite.

    Mangalore, with posh villas and glamorous imported vehicles gives the impression that mini gulf country with richest people all around. Owner of a grocery also rich with unaccounted accumulated wealth. So do not show off but cash/gold may be sacked for future generation.!

    Why so late? Just by seeing the mansion & valuating it will be much much beyond their income, forget other assets! These type of raids conducted routinely seem to be only for book entries, an eyewash!

    central government must withdraw all cash transactions and circulations of notes Rs50 and above. let all people make digital payments and for poor and laborers issue social security cards or at present use adhaar. Then no raids of advertisements are required and all transactions are accounted for under the present system. there is no will in government and administration. Mr. Anna Hajare and Mr Kejrival in deep sleep and ram dev doing Rs 30000' crore business

    Whether you call it corruption or anything else.... but everybody knows about their wealth & income.... The question is why this raid??? May be portion of the money is not moved to the proper destination on time??? Or may be to increase the timely contribution after learning their recent Income??? Sometime even corruption money too makes the economy working..... because these people can't invest legally....so they will indulge in benami property purchase or construction of mall or complex etc.... This will benefit some Construction Company whereby increasing the employment opportunity indirectly too.... As long this money is not going outside country.... let them do whatever they want since Govt can't control that..... but at least they need to do their duty towards general public without any excuse....

    Most of them might have reached this position by bribing politicians or higher officials. You are raided because you forgot your corrupt roots. Its obvious they will envy you more than anyone else if you don't pay them back.
