Mangaluru: Mumbai man repents for using scornful language against Kateel Goddess

Mangaluru, Jul 15: A person who uploaded message in social media that contained derisive matter about Goddess Durgaparameshwari of Kateel temple, visited the temple on Wednesday July 14 and confessed to his blunder.

An 80-year-old man from Bajpe, Albert Fernandes, who works in Mumbai, had sent a voice message to a person named Dinesh in which he had used obscene words about the Goddess. Dinesh had filed complaint about this in Bajpe police station.

Realizing his mistake, Albert came to the temple on Wednesday, and apologised to the Goddess in the presence of priest, K Laxminarayana Asranna, admitting that he was wrong in sending this derogatory message. He then went to Bajpe police station where he said he has realised his mistake and that he was repentant for the same. He said he is mentally devastated and that if he is arrested, he would not survive.

Considering his advanced age, the complainant withdrew the complaint and the matter was settled through mutual consent. Hindu organization and BJP leaders were present on the occasion.

    Praveen Hegde,Mangalore ,now please dont take up the thing again.He said sorry in front of temple Personal.They have accepted the matter.No need of picking up the matter.when he had not done such thing earlier,quite possible he is really sick .Or he suffered corona .After corona ,when recovere they do have some side effects of it.When temple heads have accepted his sorry ,then others need not hack again ,so that once more this will be discussed by all others and end ina quarrel again.we should concentrate on other things in this world.

    This is a personal spat between 2 people. The 80 year old sent a message to the person, and that person put it on social media. It should have been settled between the two instead of using social media, the Temple authorities and most importantly the Hindu organizations. The poor old man has been made a scape goat in this incident.

    No person has a right to abuse others religion. This should be equal to all. I am surprised, how come plus 80 years old man's abusive voice message sent to the person called Dinesh has irked some public. The photograph, shows this old man is physically not able to stand properly. Every coin has two sides. Why not, Dinesh might have used the similar language to this old man, which he might have reciprocated.

    If he was in Gulf, he would have been stoned by the people let alone getting punished by law. This is the level of tolerance in India where a person was forgiven by the people belonging to the majority despite abusing them.     I remember the birth day of my daughter. .. We went to this temple , and before offering our prayers, the so called priests grabbed the 50 Rs that she kept in her hand and did not allow us to pray also.

    God does not discriminate. Genuine Repentance always merits compassion. One thing to note here folks ..many might miss is this... Those who 'SCORN' and 'ABUSE' are true believers than many who go to the temple, church , mosque. For they believe GOD is actually there !! Otherwise why will they scorn? Tell me? Got my point?? Tell you, this is not easy to penetrate. I have seen the clip of this man repent! Tell you another thing .... The Goddess too had willed him to see her! No ways possible otherwise. Strange are the ways of God! Man will never understand this...

    No doubt this act of Albert is condemnable but also investigate what made Albert to send this message to 8iDinesh. You cannot clap in one hand. I see a lot of comments everyday in FB targeting my religion but still i choose to ignore it. Also making a video of this old man confessing in the temple and circulating it in social media gives a good nights sleep for some people.

    Nobody has got right in commenting beliefs of others religion even if it sounds wrong to you. But in this case, by seeing his age, I guess he might not be fully intentional. Could have been ignored. I really wonder why a political party is involved here.

IT is not right..let everybody do what they like..why we should interfere? that too at the advance age of 80!!! instead of having a peg of scotch everyday and eating chicken with lovely Goan songs...yeh kalyak saiba? follow the goan attitude of Sosegad and live happily..
