Dubai: Fifth Anniversary Gala of Konkani Yuva Marks Monti Fest

Dubai Sep 12: The St Mary’s Konkan Community (SMKC) of St Mary's Church here held a cultural entertainment programme to mark Monti Fest together with the fifth anniversary of Konkan Yuva (KY) celebrated at St Mary’s parish main hall on Friday September 10 at 7.30 pm.
The grand event began with prayer dance by children choreographed by Arun Lobo followed by grand welcome by master of ceremony Ullas Fernandes. A Konkani song by KY members Mamatha and group was followed by group dance by KY members choreographed by Vinod Sequeira and Arun Lobo that kept the gathered entertained.
SMKC member Richard Saldanha took over the stage for scholarship award programme by welcoming the parish priest Fr Tomasito, vice provincial Fr Varghese and SMKC spiritual director Fr Frank Gomes together with SMKC main co-ordinator Jenifer Mascarenhas. Also a belated birthday wishes were conveyed to Fr Tomasito during the event with the over 1,500 people gathered singing the birthday song.
Later, SMKC secretary Bhasker G took over the stage for felicitation of sponsors and well wishers. on the occasion, Fr Varghese released the Konkani hymns CD “JIVO UNDO” by Fr Nelson Dalmeida.
After the stage programme a video message from Fr Freddy and Fr Cyprian was displayed on the main screen followed by skit by KY team, Deepak Machado and group. The main attraction was ‘Gumta’ by KY team Victor and group followed by a hilarious Konkani comedy drama “Ami Kedala Sudhronk?” staged by Konkan Yuva members Cleevan Lozil, Anil, Evelin, Josna, Godwin, Praveen, Dion and Cleevan Martis under the direction of Pradeep Paladka. The music was rendered by Cyril Baptist. The stage programme ended with the group dance by KY members. The display screen was arranged by Prakash Lima.
Traditional mangalorean Vegetarian meal ‘Novem Jevan’ and “Vorn” was arranged by SMKC through Al Shaya Restaurant, Karama, Dubai.
