'HRD Ministry Should Focus on School Education'

Jabalpur, Sep 12 (PTI): After his potshots at Home Minister P Chidambaram, Congress leader Digvijay Singh today appeared to snipe at HRD Minister Kapil Sibal seeking his attention on school education rather than higher education.

"The need at the moment is that the HRD Ministry should pay more attention to the development of school education and skill development centres rather than higher education and I have full faith that they will look into the matter," Singh said.

Sibal has become the fresh target of Singh after he took on Chidambaram, attacking his strategy to tackle Maoists.

He had even called Chidambaram "intellectually arrogant".

Earlier this week, Sibal had hit back at his detractors, who had accused him of rushing an education bill, by invoking Rajiv Gandhi and said the former Prime Minister had desired that the task of imparting quality education should be achieved in a few months.

    The opposition is defunct.
    Hence, Congress guys themselves are the opposition to Congress.

    Sri Digi - What are you digging at. Leave Chidambaram and Sibal alone. They have formidable jobs to do under difficult circumstances and they are doing their best. It is easy to find fault with others while contributing little or nothing to the progress of education. Indeed one has to focus on primary education but let higher education be not confused with initial schooling. Both are important. Our young men have to take their places as future leaders of India and only advanced education can prepare them towards this goal.

    Digi ... do not dig at others but try and play your part for the betterment of the country.

    I must say that Diggy is right this time. The need of the hour is to focus on primary education and vocational training courses rather than higher education. IITs and IIMs are doing fabulaous jobs with fairly great contributions from privately run professional colleges. HRD ministry need not meddle with these institutions at present.

    Congress should introduce strict discipline in the party. It would be a good decision even if the party loses few able leaders. Public will have more confidence in an united and mature to a Kichdi party. The party should never tolerate loose talk against their colleagues in public and the loose cannon’s should face the music.

    Its high time "loose Cannon's" and ineffective leaders like Diggy Raja,Manishankar Aiyar, Jairam Ramesh are told to take the back seat. Their personal contribution has been negligible, they have only criticized efficient leaders and people like P.Chidambaram, Sibal or CWG organisers - Gill & Kalmadi. The congress party must tell these clowns to shut up.

    Why the hell this guy is digging at efficient ministers! Let him Go back to his olden days while he was the cabinet minister/Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister? He secured big zero while he was on power.

    Hey Digi stop it, since you are not on the hot seat it is very easy to bark. Encourage others to carry on thier task. I see only few efficient ministers in the Manmohan cabinet. Chidambarm n Kapil is among them. They r doing excellent job. Please allow them to discharge thier duties.
