Udupi, Jul 17: Realizing the fact that Covid lockdown has put the people into lot of difficulties, Alevoor gram panchayat, at its general session, has passed a resolution to cut down house tax, commercial building tax, and business license fee by ten percent each in both Alevoor and Kornagrapady villages.

The panchayat gets an annual income of about Rs 30 lac out of house and building taxes annually. It also used to collect about one lac rupees as business licence fee from about 150 entrepreneurs. On account of the above concession in taxes, the panchayat's income will be adversely affected to the tune of about three lac rupees.

Alevoor gram panchayat president, Pushpa Anchan, said that the people of the villages have suffered employment loss and also loss in business due to coronavirus infection. "Sympathising with their problems, for the first time in the state, we have cut short taxes and fees by ten percent. If other panchayats too follow our example, the people will get at least some relief," she commented.

Why such false statements by a responsible person? Think before you say such unrealistic news. There is no meaning in paying tax, when we build houses in our land with our money. There is absolutely no improvement in our part of the village having 30+ houses, for the past decade.
