Sullia: Ornaments worth Rs 17 lac belonging to devotees stolen

Sullia, Jul 23: A bag containing ornaments belonging to a family of devotees who had come here to pay obeisance at Lord Subrahmanya temple in the taluk was stolen by unknown thief. A complaint in this regard was filed at Subrahmanya police station as per which the value of the valuables lost in this incident has been put at Rs 17 lac.

Gangamma form Chikkanayakanahalli, Tumakuru along with relatives had come to the temple. When they were having food at the hotel, a bag containing valuables was placed on the floor next to the table. After having food, the family found that the bag had gone missing. It is said that the bag contained about 493 grams of gold ornaments.

The CCTV footage of the hotel showed a person escaping with the said bag. The police are investigating the base. Subrahmanya and surrounding places have of late been witnessing an abnormal increase in the incidents of theft.
