Scarecrow Effect: JCI, Kaup Volunteers Repair Pothole on NH17

Udupi, Sep 17: A large pothole on NH17 on which a motorist had put up a scarecrow was filled up by the members of Junior Chamber International (JCI), Kaup here on Friday September 17.
It may be recalled that an unidentified motorist had planted a scarecrow on the pothole as protest against the deplorable condition of the highway and the apathy of the authorities.
The cost of repairing the pothole, which came up to Rs 30,000, was borne by the JCI members who volunteered themselves for the task.
Kaup JCI president Praveen Kumar Gurme speaking to Daijiworld said that it was an attempt to alert the NH authorities on the plight of NH 17.
Praveen Kumar further informed that a mega protest against the highway authorities will be staged shortly, in which the public too will participate.
Kaup JCI former presidents and members took part in the voluntary service while Kaup police provided the security.
