Bangalore: Authority to Preserve Sahyadri's Traditional Riches to be Set Up

Bangalore, Sep 19: The setting up of Sahyadri Tradition Preservation Authority to preserve hills, mountains,water spots and ancient monuments of districts along the Sahyadris will soon be a reality.

In tha last state budget, it was assured to earmark a fund of Rs 20 crore for the purpose. The department of Kannada and culture has readied a blue print and also a project plan in this regard. Further, the department has assured of providing Rs 9 crore for the same in the current year.

The proposal is now awaiting law department's nod, which will also formulate rules according to the provision of Constitution. At the earliest, an approval will be taken at the cabinet meeting and then the same will be forwarded to department of project and development authority.

About the Authority   

The Sahyadri Tradition Preservation Authority will be set up to preserve traditional spots and monuments in districts of Shimoga, Chickmagalur and Uttara Kannada. It comprises plans to provide tourism facilities in Jog, renovation of Madhukeshwar temple, Banavasi, Ratnatraya Basadi, Bhatkal and Kanoor Kote, Sagar among others.
