Kasargod: Man from Uppal saves drowning girl, gets jailed in Malaysia

Daijiworld Media Network - Kasargod (SP)

Kasargod, Aug 6: A man from Heroor Badiyaru, Uppal here, is learnt to have been jailed after he rescued a girl who was drowning at sea. The victim Madhusudan Shetty's wife, Indiravathi, has approached union minister V Muraleedharan, seeking help to get her husband released.

Madhusudan Shetty was working for a commercial concern in Malaysia as a cook. He was there for the last 30 months. On February 27 this year, he was resting on the beach when he saw that a girl was fighting to hold herself against strong waves. He jumped into the sea and rescued the girl. When he was removing sand on the girl's dress, her parents wrongly thought that he was harassing her, admonished him, and complained to the police. The police promptly put him behind the bars.

The girl's parents later realised their mistake and informed the officials that they were wrong. However, the officials did not withdraw the legal proceedings. Efforts made by Malayali organizations in Malaysia and also the hotel owner to get him released from jail went in vain.

Indiravathi came to know that her husband was in jail from a friend and former colleague of Madhusudan on June 11. She immediately appealed to minister V Muraleedharan, through some BJP leaders to come to the rescue of her husband at this difficult time.

This gentleman had the fortitude to rescue a girl from certain death !! Malaysia like other Islamic nations, have medieval weird laws, which are incompatible in modern civilization. We should never forget a fugitive wanted by the government of India, a Mumbaikar, from Nagpada, Hate preacher Zakir Naik, has found safe, comfortable refuge, in Malaysia !!!!

K b r ji, i respect your comment. But, here he saved the girl from drowning. Saving ones life is above the law. Instead he should have been awarded by the govt.....here, lets stand for mallus please. Why this girl cant give correct statement to the police explaining what happened? Even her parents can put pressure on them ?
