Kasargod, Aug 10: the investigating team arrested one more accused in the Rajdhani Jewellery dacoity case of Hosangady at Manjeshwar. The total number of arrested rose to two with this arrest.
The arrested accused is identified as Mohammed Riyaz (32), resident of Hosmar in Karkala taluk. He was arrested from Kudremukh area by the team led by Kasargod DySP Balakrishnan Nair and Manjeshwar station inspector Santhosh Kumar.
Main accused Sathyesh K P alias Kiran (35), resident of Kodungallur in Thrissur was arrested earlier. Five more accused who are directly involved in the crime are absconding. Most of them are from Karnataka. The crime took place on the morning of July 26.
It may be recalled that a gang of seven people had assaulted and tied security guard Abdullah and looted silver ornaments weighing 15 kg and Rs 4.5 lac in cash. The car that was used in the crime was found under the limits of Ullal police station. Seven kilos of silver ornaments and Rs two lac were found in the abandoned car. The accused escaped with the rest of the loot in another car.
The investigating officers informed that they have got details of all the absconding accused and they will be arrested soon.
