Mangaluru, Aug 11: Activists of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal (BD) tried to lay siege to the house of B M Basha, son of former MLA of Ullal Idinabba. Police prevented them from entering and arrested the activists.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) had raided the house of B M Basha, son of former MLA Idinabba in the wake of his son’s connection with extremists and arrested him. In addition, a female member of the house had gone to Syria after she developed contacts with extremist organizations. NIA also seized the passport of a woman member of the family who supposedly got converted to Islam from Hinduism and has contacts with extremist organizations.
Activists of VHP and BD held an awareness movement right from the morning of Wednesday August 11 on NH 66 and Ullal calling people to boycott the family of former MLA Idinabba and also accusing Love Jihad incidents taking place in Ullal. They displayed posters that called to ban terrorism and Love Jihad.
Hindu activists of Talapady, Kotekar, Beeri, Thokkottu, Mudipu, Netravati river area, Kallapu, Konaje and other nearby areas had organized a public awareness campaign on Love Jihad. Later they tried to forcefully enter the house of B M Basha under the leadership of VHP leader Sharan Pumpwell. They also urged the female member of the house, who is converted from Hinduism to Islam to come out of the house. The police prevented the activists from entering the house and also arrested them.
