Mangaluru/Udupi, Aug 11: Dakshina Kannada on Wednesday, Aug 11 reported 422 new coronavirus cases and five deaths, while Udupi registered 130 new cases and one death.
As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 13,55,861 samples have been tested so far, out of which 12,51,604 have turned out to be negative.
The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,04,257 out of which 3,479 are currently active.
As many as 270 patients were discharged from hospitals on Wednesday.
The district recorded five deaths due to coronavirus on Wednesday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,482.
The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.
So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,02,73,670 as fine in 84,373 incidents of mask violation.
Udupi
As per the district health bulletin, as many as 8,29,895 samples have been tested so far.
A total of 130 new cases were reported on Wednesday, taking the total number of cases to 71,166 out of which 1,205 are currently active.
A total of 166 patients were discharged from hospitals on Wednesday.
Out of 130 new patients, 113 are in home isolation while 17 are in Covid-designated hospitals.
Among the 130 cases, as many as 94 are symptomatic and 36 are asymptomatic.
While Udupi reported 63 new cases, Kundapur registered 36 and Karkala 30 and one case was from out of district.
Coronavirus has claimed 430 lives in the district so far, including one on Wednesday. The person who died on Wednesday was from Kundapura.
So far, 5,58,278 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 2,02,770 have received the second dose.
A total of 50 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far, out of which, 7 are currently active.
