Mangaluru, Aug 12: Basavaraj S Bommai, chief minister (CM) of the state inaugurated the new ICU of medicine section of district Wenlock hospital in the heart of the city on Thursday August 12.
The medicine section has a 32-bed ICU which is biult at a cost of Rs 124.5 lac grant under SDRF. The new facility is in addition to already functioning 35-bed ICU, which is built under Smart City project. The ICU is equipped with ventilators, monitors and necessary medical instruments. The ventilators can be used in the treatment of children and adults. The ultra-modern central monitoring unit can monitor ventilator parameters from one spot. The medical equipment for ICU, Fowler’s Cot etc is donated by CII and others at a cost of Rs 42.32 lac

Later, Bommai inaugurated the new building of Dr B R Ambedkar Bhavan in the city.
Earlier, Bommai arrived at the international airport in the city for the first time after assuming charge as chief minister of the state. He was welcomed by the district administration of Dakshina Kannada.
Bommai will also hold a meeting with regards to assess the progress in the handling of Covid-19 pandemic in the district and especially at the border areas of Kerala.
