Bantwal, Aug 17: “The gram panchayats, revenue department and officials at gram level should indulge on war footing to eradicate Covid,” said Dakshina Kannada district in charge minister S Angara. He gave the directions presiding over Bantwal taluk level progress review meeting on covid management held at panchayat S G S Y auditorium on Tuesday.

“There are issues for home isolation in places where Covid is rampant. Therefore, the officials should persuade those who are tested positive for the virus to get admitted at Corona care centres on priority,” he suggested.

“The taluk level officials should implement the orders from the government and senior officials and take people into confidence,” he said.

Make the care centres well equipped:

“It is possible that Covid victims will get themselves admitted if the care centres are equipped with facilities such as TV and newspapers. The tahsildar and taluk panchayat executive officers should look into the matter,” suggested MLA Rajesh Naik. Deputy commissioner Dr Rajendra K V expressed his support.

“The control of covid is not the work of the health department alone. All the gram level officials should work in tandem with V A beat police,” said deputy commissioner Dr Rajendra K V.

“FIR should be registered against people violating Covid protocol. There are orders from the government that those who are covid infected should be admitted to care centres. Therefore, those who are in home isolation should be shifted to an observation centre immediately. If not, strict action such as house seal down should be undertaken, said the deputy commissioner.

The doctors will be responsible if the infected die in home isolation,” he warned.

MLA Rajesh Naik suggested taking help from a child specialist for the medical examination of children below 18 years.

“Out of 277 active cases in the taluk, 235 people are in isolation and 42 are under treatment in hospitals. 82 people have died of it and the positivity rate is 1.77,” said taluk health officer Dr Deepa.

Tahsildar Rashmi S R, DySP Valentine D’ Souza, education officer Jnanesh, municipal council chief officer Lena Britto, various taluk level officers and medical officers were present.
