Kasargod, Aug 16: In its interim order, Kerala high court (HC) said that the concessions which were spelt out in its July 31 order on the restrictions imposed on entry into Karnataka at the Kerala border should be strictly implemented. It also ordered for allowing patients arriving in private vehicles and those who have got at least one dose of vaccination into Karnataka.

CPM Kasargod district executive member, K R Jayanand, had approached the court as only patients travelling by ambulances are allowed without RT-PCR negative certificates. The HC which heard arguments, passed the said order.

The HC had sent notices asking Karnataka government, Dakshina Kannada deputy commissioner, central government and union health ministry representatives to appear before the division bench headed by the Chief Justice on August 17. The next hearing will be on August 25.

The petitioner has questioned the Karnataka government's decision to mandate possession of negative RT-PCR certificates that are not older than 72 hours.

In a press conference, K R Jayanand and others said that the central government guidelines say that RT-PCR certificates are valid for 14 days. They want this 72-hour certificate provision to be scrapped.
