Kundapur, Aug 19: “The ammended Farmer’s Act is being implemented on the basis of various committee reports and opinions of experts. Protests by middlemen in the name of farmers are unfortunate. I will work in a transparent manner to avoid a blot on the name of PM Modi,” assured union minister of agriculture Shabha Karandlaje. She was speaking after visiting the Kundapur BJP office on Thursday.

“We have started 'Jan Ashirwad Yatra' as the opposition party did not allow us to introduce new ministers during the legislative session.”

“Harish Bangera had to remain in jail at Saudi Arabia for nearly two years for no fault of his. I will not let those who were responsible for it go scot free,” she said.

“There are problems cultivating plantations of areca, coconuts, coffee, paddy etc. I will work as farmer friendly. It is intended to solve the problems of farmers within the legal framework,” she said.

Udupi BJP president Kuyilady Suresh Nayak presided. Dakshina Kannada district in charge Udaya Kumar Shetty, Vidhana parishad member Muniraju Gowda, district chief secretary Kuthyadi Navin Shetty, Raitha morcha president Raghavendra Uppoor and Yuva Morcha president Sheesha Nayak were present.

Yuva morcha taluk president Sathish Poojary welcomed and compered the programme.

    Her statement few days back was that farmers were not agitating but middlemen. Now she talks of problems of farmers.
