Udupi, Aug 20: Four persons who reportedly were instrumental in making some other person to appear for the police recruitment examination, stand arrested by the Malpe police.

The arrested persons are Hanumantha (30) from Gokak taluk, Belagavi district, Appayya Nayak (29) from Moodalagi taluk, Ismail Appasaab Nadaf (24) from Moodalagi, and Holeppa Myuppa Bagewadi.

When the police recruitment examination was held at the Mount Rosary English Medium School, Kallianpur Santhekatte here for the state armed police constable posts, Ismail Appasaab Nadaf had appeared for the written examination in place of a candidate named Praveen Khot. Later, Praveen Khot had taken part in the physical fitness, tolerance and medical tests held at Dharwad.

At the time of fingerprint matching, it came to light that the fingerprint of one of the candidates was a mismatch. A complaint was thereafter filed in Malpe police station. Accused Praveen Khot has obtained bail through the court.

Malpe station house officer, Shaktielu, who gathered information from Khot, found out the identities and whereabouts of the accused and arrested them.
