Mangaluru/Udupi, Aug 21: Dakshina Kannada on Saturday, Aug 21 reported 320 new coronavirus cases and four deaths, while Udupi registered 177 new cases.
As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 14,50,399 samples have been tested so far, out of which 13,42,728 have turned out to be negative.
The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,07,671 out of which 3,173 are currently active.
As many as 428 patients were discharged from hospitals on Friday.
The district recorded four deaths due to coronavirus on Friday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,531.
The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.
So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,03,75,920 as fine in 85,269 incidents of mask violation.
Udupi
As per the district health bulletin, as many as 8,86,053 samples have been tested so far.
A total of 177 new cases were reported on Friday, taking the total number of cases to 72,658 out of which 1,499 are currently active.
A total of 99 patients were discharged from hospitals on Friday.
Out of 177 new patients, 145 are in home isolation while 32 are in Covid-designated hospitals.
Among the 177 cases, as many as 91 are symptomatic and 86 are asymptomatic.
While Udupi reported 92 new cases, Kundapur registered 35 and Karkala 50.
Coronavirus has claimed 438 lives in the district so far.
So far 6,03,981 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 2,25,038 have received the second dose.
A total of 51 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far, out of which, 3 are currently active.
